Personal and Company Creativity
Date: March 20, 2008

Description:  Creativity is a skill that ALL can learn and put to use. The more you use the left side of your brain the better you get at being spontaneously creative. This workshop will introduce you to personal skills to help you identify problems to be solved, find a wide range of creative solutions, then select the best solution for your particular situation. The workshop will also show how you, as a manager or company owner, can instill a climate for creativity in your organization and channel that creativity for the benefit of the company. Come prepared to stretch your brain cells in search of very real solutions to problems worth solving!

Nonprofit Board Responsibilities

If you’re like the vast majority of other nonprofit board members, somehow you were just expected to know what to do. Now at last, here’s a practical workshop specifically designed to give you an effective overview of nonprofit board service. In this interactive workshop you will explore the key roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boards – what they are, how they can be exercised effectively, and what they mean in terms of individual board member expectations. In addition, you’ll be provided with tools and an opportunity to build a work plan for carrying this important information back to your organization and your fellow board members. Come to this workshop to get a refresher on basic board responsibilities and leave with a practical way to share this information with the rest of your board. Understanding Cash Flow
Date: April 16, 2008

Description:  This 3 hour workshop will cover the basic components of financial statements, and the inter-relationship of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements. Examples reflecting the impact of cash flow from various management decisions will be demonstrated using excel software.

Presenter:  Rose Creps is a Business Counselor with the Maine Small Business Development Center at AVCOG and has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and a Masters Degree in Global Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. She previously worked as a financial consultant and an accounting manager for both small and larger firms in the state of Maine.

Basics of E-Commerce

Description:  Participants will learn the basics of e-commerce: how web sites and search engines work, how to register a domain name, and how a web site can enhance the overall business model. Participants will also learn about easy to use web site templates and where to go for more assistance.
